Six, high heat transfer coefficient
The layout of shell and tube cooler is good from the point of view of strength, but not ideal from the point of view of heat transfer, because there is a bypass between the baffle - shell, baffle - heat exchange tube, tube - shell when the fluid is moving in the shell. The fluid passing through these bypasses does not participate adequately in heat transfer. Coolers, on the other hand, do not have bypasses, and the corrugations of the plates allow the flow to be turbulent at low flow rates. Therefore, the cooler has a higher heat transfer coefficient, usually 3 to 5 times that of the shell and tube cooler.
